If a human being ever arrives at the point in their life that they ask themselves; "Why do I exist?",
then they have probably aquired the humility, by some means (usually painful), to hear the answer and
act upon it.
Ironically, however, the answer has nothing to do with this world, and it cannot be fully grasped by
other than a person who has eternal salvation.
Why? I'll let God explain.
"But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the
Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
For what man knoweth
the things of a man, save the spirit
of man which is in him? even so the things
of God knoweth
no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not
the spirit
of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we
might know the things that
are freely given to us of God."
(1 Cor 2:10-12)
(This passage refers exclusively to believers).
Now, to explain what I mean by, "nothing to do with this world".
Consider the earth, and the vast reaches of stellar space that embrace our planet, an encapsulated
environment, for that's exactly what it is, a sealed atmosphere to contain sin and corruption. All of
Creation is located within God's Kingdom, what we will call Eternity, like a huge bubble suspended in
one fixed place.
This bubble contains the whole of time and space, both of which are alien concepts to the Kingdom in which
they are suspended. It won't always be this way;
"Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a
new earth, wherein
dwelleth righteousness"
(2 Pet 3:13)
"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the
first earth were
passed away; and there was no more sea."
(Rev 21:1)
This exclusive environment, then, is a temporal realm, the place where we dwell during our life in this body, and
it serves a specific purpose in God's Plan. As Christians, we must come to the point of knowledge that we view
this world, and all that is in it, from this perspective; it's all here for a short time, and that period of time
brings the Plan of God to the moment of completion, so far as the phase of His plan that we are part of at this moment.
Yet, this world is not "the battleground", but merely the periphery, for it is the soul of man where the titanic struggle
between good and evil is fought. In answer to the question; "Why do we exist?", our destiny, as a race of creatures, is
to solve the prehistoric challenge of Satan. That's right! We are the jury! The very question of God's preeminance, His
status as the Sovereign of the Universe, is within these lowly hands! Or I should say, in these human souls.
But let's don't get off on a tangent with this declaration! It isn't as though God is risking anything, or that His
position as The Most High is threatened by our flawed mental processes. Not at all. You see, what He is is so much
greater than what any creature is, to the point of infinity, there is absolutely no chance, not even a one-in-a-trillion
chance, that He will lose to Satan. We're talking about concepts that exceed our tiny capacity here; absolutes that
exist in a place where there is no time, no space, and which extends to infinity, without end. So far as our role in this
drama, enough of us are moved by the irresistable power of the infinite God to disproove Satan's ridiculous claims, and
without one single violation of our free will.
We can tear down the individual elements which make up our existence, and the principles which apply, and that is what
most of this site is about, to explain the many divergent issues and fragments of reality that comprise our mission here,
and how that mission relates to God and our eternal future.
