Each Person of the Holy Trinity has a distinct, well defined role in the PLan of God for Mankind. Many of the
points pertinent to this subject are also discussed in the sections on The Son
and The Holy Spirit, so I advise thatthe reader also aprise themselves of those
sections for a more complete understanding of this facet of Divine government.
The Father accepted the role in God's plan as the designer of the plan. His position is one of authority,
thus The Spirit and The Son defer to The Father accordingly. Both of them pray to the Father as intercessors
for us. He is the Person of God who is said to send both The Son and The Spirit to accomplish their respective
ministries. The Father, in this ascendent status (during time) is also The "Chief Justice" of the heavenly
Supreme Court. It was The Father who judged The Son for sin, and the scriptures declare that The Father has
turned over the duties as Chief Justice to Jesus Christ now that He is glorified at His right hand.
There is much to learn of this relationship between the Holy Trinity, but two prominent issues come to mind
that I want to expland on.
First is the protocol of prayer. I've heard countless people say they "pray to Jesus", others pray to The Spirit,
and one denomination actually prays to a human being, the human mother of Jesus, Mary. While the two former
mistakes are little more than erroneous (and non-effective) mechanics, the latter is outright blasphemy. To
pray to a human being, which elevates them to an equal status with The Holy Trinity, is the essence of arrogance,
to suppose a man, or woman in this case, comes within a billion miles of attaining Divine status. Keep in mind
that The Son and The Spirit set the precedent for this vital function, and at no time do either of them pray
to any other but The Father. The same goes for the humanity of Christ. His last words on the cross were to
The Father, God of Doctrine.
The second issue involves a more worldly subject, and that is the mistaken idea that it is demeaning to
serve under a system of authority. Here again, God sets the precedents, and I can assure you that there is
nothing humiliating in the high rank of The Father, and the obedience of The Son and Spirit.
Granted, men do not perform on a par with God, but this doesn't change the core principle. God gave man
the systems and institutions that are essential in maintaining civilized society, and one key provision
is authority. In so doing, He took into account the malpractices of men. He knew that many times we would
be under the sway of a moron, if that's the case. Police officers would abuse their authority at times,
husbands would be abusive and parents would neglect their responsibilities. These flaws do not abrogate the
necessity of the presence of authority in every aspect of our lives.
If it weren't for authority there would be no freedom, for freedom without aurhority is anarchy, and authority
without freedom is tyranny. So there is a suitable balance bewteen the two, and the primary purpose of authority
amoung men is the establishment ans maintainence of freedom.
I point this out because many misadventures among us that erode our freedom and place our existence as a nation
in jeopardy are evident today in our society, the entire world. These abuses abide on both sides, the resentment of those
under authority, and the abuses of power from people with authority. Both contribute to disaster, and I hate to
inform you that our country is rushing headlong into a catastrophic period in our history that may sink us. Every
where we look authority is under fire; marriage, feminism, military, jusris prudence, parents, schools, corporations,
law, drugs, and the worst of all, the authority that we must impose on our own will.
People on both sides of the authority paradigm are guitly of malfeasance, and the price of this error will be
grievous, indeed. We have already suffered just a taste of the consequences on September 11, 2001.
In essence, when we refuse to remain under legitimate authority, and rebel, or when we have authority and
abuse it, we are thumbing our nose at God, the ultimate source of authority as the power that controls the
utter desolation of the human condition.
