Here's one of my pet peeves, wussy Christians running around letting people push them around,
even assault them, based upon their erroneous perception of "turn the other cheek". This
mandate from God has nothing to do with the physical, but the soul. When a neighbor or co-worker
gossip about us, or we suffer some injustice, we are expected to turn away from sin; anger,
bitterness, spite, revenge.
That's "turning the other cheek"!
Let me assure you, Christian, that if someone punches you, or otherwise commits an aggressive act
against your person, there is absolutely nothing wrong with levelling the guy off at ground level!
God is the essence of practicality, a fact that most Christian ministers are apparently ignorant of.
Is it common sense to expect a person to be beaten, robbed, abused and stand meekly and take it?
What virtue is there in that?
I call it cowardice.
Christ is no wimp! He's the greatest warrior of all time! That isn't to imply He isn't the essence of
love, but simply put, there's bad people in this world and there is absolutely no virtue in allowing
them to persecute or injure us without fighting back. The sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and His passive
acceptance of that destiny, cannot be compared to our mundane trials and tribulations. He submitted to the
will of The Father, an act of supreme humility and courage, in order to do the work of saving our
mangy butts. Many other incidents speak of His prowess in battle, the greatest of which will be his
meeting the forces gathered against Israel in the Tribulation. On that glorious day He will smite the
legions of the Prince of Darkness and bring to a close, for all time, wars among men.
