The issue of prayer in our public schools is bogus, not because it is a violation of church and state (the schools supposedly aren't the state), but for the practical reason that kids go to school to get an education, not worship God. If they wish to bow their heads and pray in private a few minutes, fine. But our schools are institutions designed to serve all the people, not just Christians. As such, the issue of the Christian faith is rightfully omitted from the daily routine. A private school is another matter. If parents wish to expose their children to a Christian environment, and a school's policies reflect Christian virtues and beliefs, fine. I do, however, oppose the teaching of pagan concepts like evolution. There should be a curriculum which compares the two concepts, and it should be made clear to children that evolution denies God as The Creator of the Universe. [ HOME ] [ ISSUES MAIN ]
