If you have ever read the prayers uttered in the Continental Congress, and before that, the House of Burgesses, there is no mistake that those men knew and loved God. They were men impassioned with a vision of freedom, a nation founded upon the bedrock principles and ideals that make up our Holy Scriptures. The emergence of America as the most powerful nation on earth, a nation blessed with great wealth, is not the result of man's ingenious invention but the inevitable product of Divine counsel. Conversely, the tragic decline of this great Republic can be attributed to man's miserable compromises. Every man who signed the Declaration of Independence knew full well that they would pay a dear price, yet they sacrificed their very lives and fortunes. Not one escaped the retribution of King George's wrath. By contrast, our politicians of today are preoccupied with their own selfish welfare. I am sure there are men who make an attempt to conduct themselves honorably, but not one has not danced with the devil more than once. Today the preponderance of the men who serve as our elected officials, and I use the term "serve" loosely, are owned by the party. If they refuse to cooperate their re-election campaigns are sabotaged. The party withdraws support. As a result we elect the men chosen by the party, groomed by the party, and controlled by the party. It makes little difference which side of the aisle they sit on, we have little choice in the matter. The welfare of the Washington elite, and the mega-rich power brokers in industry, comes first, before the welfare of this country. At best they will bend the rules and conceal the truth to have their way. At worst they will sell their souls to Satan, do anything they must to seize power and keep it. I view the current campaign, headed by John Kerry on the Democratic ticket, as perhaps the most despicable display of corrupt motives ever to stain the fabric of this nation. The hoards that support him are not displeased with the policies of President Bush so much as they are driven by hatred, pure and simple. Visit any one of the many websites, or one of the dozens of books on sale by the left. The majority of them do not engage the electorate with even the pretense of an alternative platform. They spew hate, spread slanderous lies, and hold the President responsible for every malady that makes the front page from the bombings in Iraq to the swine flew. Coincidentally, they refuse to give the man credit for what good he has done. The economy is booming, but no jobs are being created. We defeated a determined enemy in less than two months, with only 400 casualties, but we are losing the war in Iraq, and the litany goes on. I'm no shill for George Bush. In fact, there are several of his policies, including the politicization of the war after such a brilliant victory, but there are many worthy accomplishments to his credit to date. Yes, there are criticisms deserved, but the vehement loathing of the far left is not a reasonable position. It is evil and serves only the purpose of division and animosity in our society. The greatest hero of the Revolution for me was Nathan Hale who's words stir the blood of any American patriot; "Give me liberty, or give me death!". Those same words in the mouth of a politician today would be labelled fanaticism, and even if a man did dare to say them, they would be the product of a clever speech writer whose target audience is reflected in the latest opinion polls. Tell the suckers what they want to hear. Catering to the voices of the politically correct minority, God has been eradicated from public view. Christians are being persecuted on our campuses. Liberals scream "Separation of church and state...!" on the slimmest pretext. The Ten Commandments can not be displayed in a courthouse in Georgia, any mention of God in a public institution is labelled a violation of equal rights. The nose pickers of America have successfully removed God from every public building, every street corner. What disasters will come of our blasphemies is yet to be seen, but I can guarantee it won't be pretty. |
