TERRORISM
The last verse of my favorite hymn; Because our High Protector did nothing to stop it. "Protect us by Thy might, great God, our King" Those beautiful words, which have stood as a bulwark between our nation and wanton bloodshed on this sacred soil for generations, failed us on that black September day. Why? Because nobody is singing to God any longer, and I don't mean there is no religious activity! To the contrary, there is abundant traffic in and out of our churches. Locate any church in any small town in America this Sunday, and the parking lot will be full. If that is the case, then why did God allow a pack of fanatic Muslims to slaughter over 2,000 people? Why are we chasing shadows with no victory in sight? Here we are, allegedly the most powerful nation on earth, using a bulldozer to squash a flea! Our citizens quake with fear every time a woman inadvertently spills some powder from her compact onto the lavatory sink. We close huge businesses, vacate towering buildings....250 million people quaking in their boots every time some raghead says "Boo!". And we ain't seen nuttin' yet folks, I'm sorry to say! Listen to the voices around you, the ones coming from the doors of those churches! They're encouraging us to "understand the Muslims", don't do anything too rash! Lay down our arms and love bin Laden to death, send the little dove with the twig in his beak to speak for us, not the eagle with the arrows in his talons. Christian folk think this is what God wants to hear, but they're dead wrong! Our predicament should be evidence enough of that. This is what they want to hear! But what brought this predicament to pass is the issue....the sounds we have heard coming out of our churches for years, and along our boulevards, wherever people congregate and chat, things like; "Pass tougher gun control laws !" "Punish the boy scout troop that won't accept a homosexual scout master !" "Abolish capitol punishment !" "Make military academies accept women against their will!" "God wants a heart belief, not a head belief !" "Slash military spending, the cold war is over !" "Criminals have rights too !" "Homosexuals should have the right to be ministers!" "....their relationship should be recognized as a marriage, too !" "....and they should be welcome to teach our children in our schools !" "Abolish abortion !" "Detente is the only answer to aggression ! Negotiate, don't fight !" What? Did I trample on your sacred cow? Insult your sense of moral propriety? This is just a sampling, and the fact that these issues are an affront to me isn't that important, but when they are an affront to God.... You figure it out. If these, and the myriad of other inane attitudes so prevalent in our country today, were pleasing to God then why has He withdrawn His protection? Unless you haven't given a thought to His protection, of course, which is perhaps one of the most glaring reasons for our malaise. Every quote I included above have one thing in common; they are in direct conflict with God's stated policy. Not my policy, mind you ! I have only adopted the policy that God communicated in His Word, I didn't come up with these views on my own, or adopt the right wing agenda. I'm just as scornful of right wing wackos as I am left wing airheads. I learned what I'm saying here from the Bible, and to the extent any Christian reading this hasn't gotten these same principles from His Word, they are a part of the problem in this country, in spite of the fact that they think they have the inside track with God. Let me ask you some pointed questions pertaining to God, if I may be so bold; Do you see Christ as a long haired man with a dove on His shoulder and kids on His lap ? Do you believe the Bible is the infallible Word of God ? Do you think war is ever justified ? If an intruder broke into your home, would you kill him, given the chance ? Does God advocate mercy for criminals ? Which of God's attributes is paramount in salvation; Love or Justice ? Is it possible to lose your salvation for an extremely heinous sin ? Is there reincarnation ? Did Jesus come here to heal the sick and blind ? Is there literally a hell ? Is there literally a devil ? Should a woman be permitted to serve in a combat unit ? Is the man the head of the house, or is marriage a "partnership" ? Do your believe a woman should be an ordained minister ? Do you believe homosexuality is a sin, or a genetic condition ? Should there be a universal draft that requires every young man to serve his country ? Is abortion murder ? Is institutionalized religion God's ordained venue for worshipping Him ? Should parents reason with a disobedient child, or spank them ? What is God's attitude toward the Palestinian controversy ? Tell you what....there's 20 questions in this list. That gives them a point value of 5 (if they were on a quiz) so 70 would barely be a passing grade, a "D". As far as I'm concerned, anyone who doesn't have all of these principles firmly rooted in their values are out in the spiritual toolies, and America is paying the piper for Christianity's folly. As goes the Christian in a Client Nation to God, so goes the nation. The tragedy of September 11 is mute evidence of the fact that we have turned away from God, and we're suffering the consequences. |
