Kim had a desire for marshmallows to roast over the fire, but we had none.
She had called up Nic last night around midnight and asked him to check to
see if he could get some, as they didn't have any at the grocery store when
she went earlier in the day. Needless to say, Nic was also unable to find any.
Instead, Kim had brought along some fresh Ontario strawberries, so we tried
roasting them. I should remind you all that this was after a couple/few beers
on everyone's parts, so it sounded like a workable, even good, idea. Actually,
the result wasn't bad, although I prefer my strawberries less on the roasted
side. :)
We had fun building fires all weekend, because the wood we had purchased
from the park was kind of damp, and the grill that you see featured prominently
in this picture was cemented in place, leaving about 20cm's of space between
the grill and the ground at the base of the firepit. But, somehow, we managed to
ensure that we had a fire going to cook breakfast and dinner, and to keep us
warm at night.
This picture was actually taken just after we had doused the fire for the night.
