Bio
Mister Orlando Bloom was born on January 13, 1977 in Canterbury as the son of Harry and Sonia. His mother mostly raised him on her own, because his dad died when he was just 4 years old. When Orlando was 13 his mother told him that not Harry, but Colin was his biological father.
Sonia encourage her two children to do something with their creativity, so Orlando knew the meaning of art at a young age. He participated in the local Kent Festival, although not as an actor but as a poemwriter. But when he discovered that 'Superman' was an actor, he soon got interested in acting.
When he was 16, he moved to London where he received a scholarship to the British American Drama Academy. It was during that time that he played in the film Wilde, about Oscar Wilde. Orlando the decided to continue his education at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama, also in London.
While still in school, in 1998, Orlando fell two stories down and broke his back. He tried to clim to a friend's rooftop terrace. Silly boy. He was almost paralyzed, but after surgery and a 12-day stay in the hospital, Orlando was able to walk out as if nothing ever happened. It seems that Orlando is very breakable. He has broken a rib, his nose, both legs, an arm, a wrist, a finger, a toe, and has cracked his scull 3 times.
In 1999, just 3 days before Orlando would graduate from Guildhall, he was casted for the role of Legolas Greenleaf in the highly anticipated film Lord of the Rings. He originally auditioned for the role of Faramir, son of Denethor, but was chosen to play Legolas.
After graduating Orlando left to New Zealand. He was there for the next year and an half to film Lord of the Rings. He needed to learn swordsplay, archery and horseback riding to prepare for the his role. Orlando became very close with many of his fellow actors. That friendship resulted in placing a tattoo ( 9 ). Soon Orlando was known as the daredevil in the group. He went bungeejumping and even learned how to surf.
After finishing Lord of the Rings Orlando went to Los Angeles. He played in Black Hawk Down and received excellent reviews, although he had a small role. And off course, many teenagers are crazy about Orlando.
I can say that his career is going fairly well.
