After much soul-searching, Barry and Malcolm have decided to sell the HTD label
to the Sanctuary Group. It was a tough decision made purely for business
reasons in what is now a hard market for small independent record companies.
However, this has allowed the dynamic duo to open Talking Elephant Records.
With about 25 releases planned for the next three months, a new Wishbone Ash
studio album and several other exciting new projects. The money from the sale
is allowing the boys to bring you new music from the artists they know you
love.
Barry and Malcolm hope you will support Talking Elephant in the same fantastic
way you have supported HTD and its artists to keep great music alive. The
following are some of the artist on Talking Elephant Records.
The Groundhogs began in 1964, when Tony McPhee and Pete Cruikshank formed "John
Lee's Groundhogs" to back John Lee Hooker on a British tour. They released
their final blues album, "Blues Obituary", in 1969. After that, they began
swimming with the tide of heavy progressive rock and, beginning with 1970's
"Thank Christ For The Bomb", they chalked up three Top Ten albums during the
early Seventies.
Fairport Convention was formed by Ashley Hutchings (Steelye Span) in 1967, and
originally featured Richard Thompson. The other founding member was Simon
Nichol, and the band took its name from that of Nichol's house. Original
vacalist Judy Dyble was replaced in 1968 by Sandy Denny. The band has featured
many well-known artists, including Ian Matthews of Matthews Southern Comfort
and Dave Pegg of Jethro Tull.
TEARS OF THE SUN is a celebration of 25 years of The Enid. From their
ground-breaking first album, "In The Region Of The Summer Stars", to the title
track composed specially for this celebratory release. "Tears Of The Sun"
collects 13 unique, diverse and excellent pieces of music. Is is a perfect
introduction to the music of The Enid and founder member and composer, Robert
John Godfrey.
