Yuri
Dirty Pair Flash

Character Description:
Yuri is one of two 3WA trouble consultants under the codename "Lovely Angels"... but they tend to wreak havoc in the process, that they have been nicknamed "The Dirty Pair". Yuri, being the sweeter, gentler of the two, does not get along with her fiery partner, Kei, and vice versa. Yuri tends to prefer dates over 3WA assignments, and falls for guys as often as people change underwear. Her weapon of choice is the light sword/saber.

Commentary:
Weeee!!! This costume is cute... yet a little skimpy. ^-^;;; Not much commentary... did get quite a bit of attention though. o.O; I was glad to have finally done something more "old school", since a lot of costumes done these days are anything new and up and coming.. although not many recognized it.

Costume Info:

bodysuit: We used a basic tank one piece bathing suit pattern for this one, with high leg opening. I actually really liked this suit more than any of the ones I had ever tried on in a store - it fit so perfectly! o.O
glove: Don't get me started on this damned glove. I took a normal pair of white gloves, took it apart, and used it for a pattern. I cut out a square on both the front and back, and then made a strap for it at the bottom. Well, this is the same red. It's satin. It does not stretch. >_<I had made this glove twice, and the second time, the semas ripped _less_ so I kept it. :P
wig:  Ahh, yes, this was probably the toughest obstacle of the whole costume (well, none of it was really tough ^-^;;) I got this wig at a local wig shop, and even though I had to special order, it was a LOT cheaper than if I were to buy it online. It was a long curly showgirl wig in violet, with no bangs. My goal? Straight with bangs. I tried a few different methods of straightening until I finaly decided to take a risk and use my temp control curling iron, which worked really well. Be sure NOT to full enclose the hair on the irn i you plan on trying this yourself, and AT YOUR OWN RISK. It is highly UNrecommended to apply heat to synthetic hair. It did take nearly three hours to do though. o.O; To cut bangs, I referred to this tutorial from amphigory.com.

oversuit: I have to give all the credit to my mom for making the pattern. I was just too unmotivated to do it. ^-^;; But I did put the whole thing together! :P It really wasn't too hard... then the whole thing was lined with the gold wire trim (which was a little itchy) and a collar was added using a pattern of a collared shirt, with the underside lined with red satin. I used the same satin to make a rolled sleeve and sew it at the sleeve openings.
choker: Used from the same lycra material as the body suit, secured with velcro.
boots:  Weee, I asked for these for Christmas. ;p My mom got them at (because that's where I directed her :P): www.pierresilber.com.
lightsaber:  This is the masterful works my friend and co-worker Chad. He did a really great job, and yes, it does light up. From what I know, he used the mechanism inside a Star Wars light saber, carved the handle of wood and painted it dark blue, andbought the plastic tube from Home Depot. I did make some changes though... it originally had two arms jutting out from the top of the handle which I removed after discovering that I had given him wrong info ^-^;; and then covered the blade in pink cellophane, so that i would show up in pics.
