Commentary:
This was my first real cosplay experience (yes, real, I don't count being Sailor Jupiter for Halloween in 8th grade. :P) The costume was fairly easy to make; my mom (who did most of the work, actually) and I finished the costume in less than a few days. I'm sure it could have been even shorter if it weren't due to so many dumb things I did. -_-; Anyway, I really liked cosplaying Rinoa, and I had tons of fun for my first cosplay experience.

For the AX, I had to remake the skirt 'cause I lost it. -_- It was great having Joe to pose with! I also had black black hair, but no blonde extensions. I think I'm done with this costume. On to bigger, greater things!

Costume Info:

duster: This was probably the most difficult piece to make, but it wasn't too bad. We used a pattern for a vest, and just added the bottom to it, altering it to look just right and flow out like Rinoa's does. First, I had to search everywhere to find the perfect sweater-like ribbed material in the right color. I found this stuff at a fabric warehouse, but it was white. So I dyed it and initially it looked too dark, so I bleached it. But then it turned grey o.o;; and I dyed it again. The end result turned out pretty good. As for the wings on the back, I made a stencil free-hand and my brother air-brushed them for me. Unfortunately, again with the perfectionism, I was nervous about the paint seeping past the thin parts of the stencil, so I overdid the glue job. That resulted in having to soak the fabric and remove the black cardstock stencil little by little with tweezers. -_-;;; But it actually turned out pretty good.
jewelry: Luckily my sister's boyfriend had the Griever ring and he let me borrow it, and I owned a silver ring that looked much like Rinoa's and a silver ball chain as well. That worked out nicely. ^-^
tank top: Easy. Bought it! But it had to have the exact same neckline. ^-^;
skirt: this was made from a pattern as well. We just cut it shorter to give the effect to the shorts, and added three buttons.
shorts: Simple bike shorts that I bought somewhere. I couldn't find the right zippers, so I sewed this silver basting-ribbon stuff to it. Real easy. The sucky part was that the ribbon had wire in it, so I had to keep its shape.
arm bands: I just cut these out on a whim! ^-^;They turned out really good. I just kept sewing 'em till they fit.
arm tie: piece of black shoe string. :P
boots: I owned the boots, but I had to put the little silver metal bluckles on them. I cut squares from a greeting card and glued silver metallic wrapping paper on them, and poked holes through the sides, then laced it through.
hair: Oh, this is the part that made me upset!!! I worked on getting the hair right, even making blonde extensions to put in. I combed and straightened it just right but as soon as I stepped outside of the hotel, the humid air attacked it. ;_; Ah well. Que cera cera.
