Self-portrait

Lubomir Arabadjiev was born in 1961. He is a free-lance photographer, living and working in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. He has a wife, Stella and a son, Neven. He can use the Russian and English languages.

The SMENA 8M photocamera, given to him as a gift by his brother in 1970, worked like magic on him, driving him to look for the ‘different’ photos.

Lubomir Arabadjiev takes photos mainly of young people, in black and white, and in sepia. He uses different techniques of taking the photos and copying them. These vary from the old Brom Oil and sulphur toning, through the photocollage and the spot copying, to the stereo and kinetic photography. He combines the photos in series of 10 to 12 pieces. The exhibition format he prefers is 40/50 cm.

The experts define his style as attractive and aesthetic, achieving an ideal composition. He defines himself as an artist using the photography as a means of expression and creating photographs that are a cocktail of light, love and a little madness.

He considers the following events as most important in his career:

‘Photographer of the Year 1996’ award by the PHOTO Magazine (Bulgaria)

Review of photographs at The Museum of The Modern Art, New York, 1995.

Review of photographs at the International Centre of Photography, New York, 1995.

Exhibition in Art Expo, New York, 2001

Presentation in Jacob Javits Convention Center, New York, 2002
Supported by UC Productions, New York
