These are the most uncertain of the arms depicted in my pages. There are 17 blazoned Núñez households and several in the Navarran region from which my paternal surname originates.
The top half depicting the lion rampant charging a castell propre sur or is unusual in Spanish arms. Gold as a background is done, but castles not used. Castillian households profered towers, so these were not Castillians. Traditionally in medieval heraldry cauldrons are used to represent generosity in service to the Sovereign and in my case appear both in the Nuñez and De La Vega arms. Two sable cauldrons paled suggest Navarran ancestors likely contributed in the provisioning of military forces. The lower second quadrant with 2 argent panelas divided per bend or on gules symbolizes commercial enterprise of a textile nature, probably of military application. Clicking anywhere on the Núñez Shield will lead to my law office.
