Map of Athos · Wildlife

Athos is technically a universe of itself.

Athos is a slightly confusing world, but I'm going to do my best to explain it to you. Since it is, in a way, its own universe, it exists on a linear plane that goes off into infinity: If you have ever played a Role-Playing-Videogame, you might be able to recognize this concept. To simplify the idea, the left edge of this world is attached to the right edge, and the top edge is attached to the bottom edge. Athos originally existed with one continent called Arcadia, however now it has split into multiple continents.

Some miscellaneous information about life on Athos would be that the planet has no normal weather patterns: Instead of an atmosphere that takes winds throughout the planet, each continent has its own weather patterns that float over it in a strange sort of way. The Sinara Ocean and continents exist seperately; the Sinara Ocean has various wind and current fluctuations, and yet none of these affect how the continents retain their seperate weather conditions.

The Eternal Tempest is a weather anomaly on Athos. It reigns to the far west of the world, south of the Konissa Deadlands. Sea Suryngai can't even approach it without being forced back a good half mile or so. The Eternal Tempest is a raging storm, like a tornado, but it is made of water and spans miles high, and covers even the top of the storm, so Sky Suryngai can't get in. There is a magical aura about it, but no one can figure out what it is.

Athos is in a constant state of dusk. On the verge of nighttime, the only light given is from the various moons. The four moons are Gold, Silver, Blue, and Red. All four typically float in the sky, however every 10 years, only one moon floats in the sky. They cycle every fourty years; Gold, Silver, Blue, Red; each of these moons have a specific Guardian, and are made out of different substances, however no Suryngai knows exactly what.. I do, though.:

MoonGuardianElement
GoldGryphonAir
This is the moon where one of the Guards of the God Amana dwells. Ruling the element of air, this moon glows a faint gold, and the Griffin inside flies endlessly with other birds. Inside is a realm of air.
SilverUnicornEarth
The Silver Moon is the moon where one of the Guards of the Goddess Aetherea dwells. Ruling the element of earth, this moon glows a faint silver, and the Unicorn enjoys a serenity unmatched anywhere else. Inside is a beautiful forest glade.
BlueDragonWater
This is the moon where one of the Guards of the God Amana dwells. Ruling the element of water, this moon glows a faint blue, and the Dragon enjoys its watery expanses. Inside is nothing but water and fish.
RedPhoenixFire
The Red Moon is where one of the Guards of the God Amana dwells. Ruling the element of fire, this moon glows a faint red, and the Phoenix lives inside the mightiest volcano. Inside is a realm of hardened rock and exploding volcanoes, and it is dangerous for the heat as well as the flames.

The God and Goddess are sealed off from Athos by their Four Guards. Each one supposedly resides in their respective-colored Moon, and all four Moons are usually seen in the sky at different positions so none collide with each other. They, in turn, can only be summoned directly by the God or Goddess they correspond to (the Unicorn and Phoenix to the Goddess, the Dragon and Gryphon to the God), or they can be seen in Suryngaian visions, from which the Guard could invite the Suryngaian to their moon temporarily. For more information on the typical beliefs and history of Athos, and why these moons exist, please check the Mythology page.

Finally, the Sinara Ocean is affected by whatever continent it is next to: Konissa Deadlands Continent- water is hot and steamy; Grison Continent- water is moderately warm; Xenolyae Continent- water is cooler; Yanara Continent- expect icebergs!; Xyroa Continent- water is moderately warm; Karaena Islands- water is moderate to warm; Jessarai- water is tropical; Near the Eternal Tempest- water is harsh and unpredictable, dangerous) .
