moonlightlullaby

a faint moonlight
bleeds through the darkness
creeping up beside me
in my sleep.
she whispers in my ear
a soft lullaby
but stops short --
and for moments it is silent.
awake from my slumber
my eyes open
to black
no distance, no nearness
she is gone.
in the absence of the moonlight
I stumble, weary, about the room
to find not a door nor a window
but nothing.
in the black air, I hear her
song once again,
but she is nowhere
to be found.
