Rainy
As the rain falls,
hitting lightly upon my
window pane,
I listen with open ears
for laughter among
the gentle tapping upon my
window pane.
I reach into the falling
waters, and it
soothes my battered skin,
and I lay beneath, with no sign
of laughter hiding
in the rhythms of
the rainy night.
I close my eyes and
I listen with open ears
as it sings softly
when I sleep,
and wakes me for
another day.
