taunting moonlight

lying beneath a
taunting moonlight
that forcefully peaked through
my window blinds
I tossed, and turned, eyes
wide awake
to the midnight glow
shone
through my window.
wondering what its
purpose could possibly be
as I struggled to
sleep
tangled in my sheets,
suffocated
in my pillow,
could not escape
what bled through
my window blinds,
invading my slumber,
questioning my rights
to be alone,
to be myself,
to sleep away
a restless night
haunted by
dimly lit stripes
of a jail cell.
I tossed and turned, eyes
wide awake
to the midnight glow
of the taunting moonlight.
