FAQ (Frequently asked
questions)
Q: How do I go about applying for the position as flight
attendant ?
A: WAIT until you see the position advertised in the media. DO
NOT
simply submit your CV as the airlines
receive dozens of them daily
and simply do not have the time to
peruse over them or the storage space
to keep them , so they are simply
discarded.When the positions are
advertised a reference number is shown.
If your
CV does not have a ref. number it will
be discarded.
Q: Which newspapers are the positions usually advertised ?
A: Usually newspapers like the STAR or SUNDAY TIMES
but
the sunday times is your best
bet.
Q: Why are the positions only advertised in the media ?
A: Flight attendants are trained in batches of 10 - 12
people
due to the high cost of training, So the
positions will without exception
always be advertised in the media. Not
everybody will make the grade
therefore a large amount of people will
be interviewed.
Q: I have been looking at the papers all the time , but lately
have not seen
any positions for flight attendant available.
Why is this ?
A: All airlines are in turmoil at this time and are overstaffed
in all depatments
including Cabin Crew.Do not lose hope , but
things should start looking
up towards the end of the year or the beginning of
next year.
Q: Do I as a male stand a chance of being employed in a female
dominated
Job ?
A: Yes indeed you do, there is no discrimination be it sex ,
race , creed or colour.
Q: What qualifications or couses should I have to be a
flight attendant ?
A: There are no specific qualifications , however good
interpersonal skills,
team , quality and service orientated
persons will have an advantage.
If you are currently working in the
service industry it will definitely be
added advantage.
