Interview tips...
You are very
exited...
You have just received a phone call asking
you to come in for the interview.
It is also here where a lot of people slip through the net.
Firstly.. dress appropriatly !!!
This is a proffesional job you are applying for, so why
are you dressing like a slouch , of trying to look like
part of the party scene ?
I cringe every time I see someone coming in for the interview
dressed like a slob , or has green hair , bare midriff ,or a stud
through the eyebrow etc.
You are going to have to conform to the airline's dress code
which is very strict and ridged , so you might as well dress formal.
Needless to say the abovementioned dont make it past the 1st
interview
I cannot stress it enough.
Gents: (Preferably) a Dark suit
& tie
Ladies: Dress suit or
appropriate dress ie no bare midriff
or mini skirts also no loud
colours.
Secondly....Personal hygiene:
Use deoderant
Breath freshner
Clean nails & hands well manicured
Thirdly..
P u n c t u a l i t y.....P u n c t u a l i t y.....P u n c t u a l i t
y.....
Make sure you are where you should be at least half an hour
beforehand. Make sure where the building is and how to get there
and
make arrangements to get there on time. Needless to say once you
are
late for the interview the airline is no longer interested in you ,
as
punctuality is THE most important
aspect of ANY airline.(In fact if you are 1 minute late for your
signon
you are awolled* by some airlines - others 3 or 5 minutes
!!)
*AWOL (absent without leave)
Make sure you have all necessary documentation with
you
ie CV , ID book , references , motivational letter etc. as
stipulated by the
human resources officer or interviewer.
Make sure documentation is up to date
especially the CV

Sometime before or after a Interview you are weighed and
your height is measured , to see if you are indeed as tall and
heavy as
you say you are. Generally you should be at least 1.6 metres
tall
and have a good height to weight ratio.
The Interviews....
1st Interview. Generally this is just to see what you look
like
and wheather you have any deformities , 10 fingers 2 arms 2
legs etc.
You will be asked 2 or 3 easy questions such as why you
want to join the airline
or why you would like being a flight Attendant? You might also
be tested
for fluency in a foreign language if this is a
requirement.
For some airlines the knowledge of a foreign language
such as German , French , Portugeuse or Chinese is
not
only a requirement but essential as a employment
condition.
Take note that some airlines already check
how
you interact with your fellow applicants and how
you
interact with them ,even before the
interview has started.
2nd Interview. This is a toughie.
You will be alone before a panel of interviewers, and they will throw
questions
at you mercilessly. The object is to see how you will react
in a emergency
or crisis situation. They will give you
a crisis scenario on board and ask you
how you will handle it. You must think carefully how you
answer because the
questions are also designed to see if you contradict
yourself.
Good self knowledge is an advantage.
This interview can last anything from 20 mins to a
hour.
3rd Interview. Group Interview.
You and about 10 - 20 of your
fellow applicants
will all be together for this
one. You will be asked to solve a problem together.
Almost the same as the
previous interview
except there will be people
monitoring each applicant to
see how they work togther in a
team context.
The object is to see how you
get along with your
future colleagues and if you
can work in a team context.
This interview can last up to 2
hours or more.
NB: The above advice is
just a guideline and might not
neccesary happen in that order. Each airline has
a diffrent
methodology so you might find it might just not
happen
in this order , or the questions or method of
questioning might differ.
Medical. - Not really an Interview except where
the
good Docter and his team of
Nurses ask you some
pertinent
questions.
Nothing much I can add here ,
except if you are deaf
of blind you are obviously not
going to make it.
Generally people of excellent
health are required.
Like I said previously , if you
are a substance abuser
you will be found
out.
I hope the above will help you in some
way
to prepare yourself.
Good luck
