(B) Soundboard Recordings

Roadhouse Blues [05-02-70] / Mystery Train [05-02-70] / Money [01-18-70] / Someday Soon [05-02-70] /

Some live recordings generically labelled as 'Absolutely Live' outtakes. These are soundboard recordings made by The Doors from various live shows, but the quality is much less than one would expect from a soundboard source because they were recorded poorly -- but still better than some audience recordings, quality-wise. Currently the only way to hear the first performance of "Someday Soon." Recently expanded to include uncirculating tracks from the Boston and Felt Forum shows.

01/??/71 Jim Morrison/Bob Chorush Interview - Los Angeles, CA
Unknown Generation
120 minutes
(B) Private Recording Interview

Bob Chorush's complete (and long) interview with Jim Morrison for the Los Angeles Free Press. The article this tape originates from was released on January 15, 1971 so the date for the recording falls between the 1st and the 15th of January (given the topics discussed and the release date of the Free Press article). Jim shares a lot of interesting information.

02/??/71 Jim Morrison/Ben Fong-Torres Interview - Los Angeles, CA
"A Conversation With Jim Morrison" Bootleg

(A) Private Recording Interview

My personal opinion is that this interview is incomplete. It ends without any kind of "good-bye" and it's only 74 minutes long (the size of most CD-Rs a few years ago). Seems like the bootlegger fit as much as he or she could on the CD and released that instead of the entire interview. Hopefully the whole thing will turn up someday since this appears to be Jim Morrison's final interview before his death. His long-time girlfriend, Pamela Courson, also talks during this interview.

06/14/71 Jim Morrison's Final Studio Session - Jomo And The Smoothies - Paris, France [?]

Warm Up & Tuning / "Starting Now!" / Orange County Suite

Supposedly Jim Morrison's final studio recording. The rumor circulates that this was recorded in Paris in 1971 (with an oddly specific date), but there's been nothing substantial to prove it. Others believe it may have been recorded in Los Angeles just before Jim left for Paris, still making this his last studio recording. The box on the original master reel, which was discovered in Paris after his death, was labelled (apparently by Jim himself) as "Jomo And The Smoothies."
